CLASS UPDATES
- 3 Day 3’s –We started our week learning about Jackson Pollack. It was a beautiful day, so we recreated our Pollack masterpiece outside. The canvas was taped to the ground as the children splashed and dripped the paint. It was lots of fun!! We completed our art unit with Vincent van Gogh. The children painted his most famous painting called “The Starry Night”. We enjoyed getting messy with blue finger paint. The children had a fun time with their “April Showers Bring May Flowers” project. They drew flowers with crayons and then using a scouring sponge dipped in blue paint to create rain. We glued cotton balls on top to create clouds.
- 4 Day 3’s – What an exciting week this was in the 4 day threes!!! Jackson Pollock was the final artist we learned about. We has such a great time splattering, dripping and splashing paint on our classes work of art out on the playground. The children worked so hard this week rehearsing for our art show. Thursday’s Famous Artist Show and Exhibit was a huge success!! Thanks to all the parents, grandparents, babysitters and siblings for coming out and celebrating our amazing artists!!!
- 5 Day 4’s – This week we started off learning about Earth Day. Our class learned all about ways we can help protect the earth by doing our part to keep it clean. We began learning about the life cycle of a butterfly. Each child put a larva into a small cup with caterpillar food. They are growing already!! For “X” week, we have been using a light table to look at xrays of all types of animals. Don’t forget next week is “Z” week.
- Extended Day 4′s – Little by little our caterpillars are growing! The students are amazed by the life cycle of the butterfly as we watch it day by day. We cannot wait to see the final step emerge! This week we focused on Earth Day as we tied it into our butterfly unit! We read “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle and illustrated our favorite part in our journals! We are continuing to practice for our show as everything is coming together! The students are excited for you to see what the letter Y has turned into! Next week is K week for kites and other fun spring activities. Have a great weekend!
