CLASS UPDATES

  • 3 Day 3’s – The children learned about Claude Monet. We read “Monet’s Impressions” by Claude Monet. They had fun re-creating one of his most famous paintings called “Water Lilies.” It is hanging in MOMA in N.Y.C. We also read “Philippe in Monet’s Garden” by Lisa Jobe Carmack. The children put Philippe  in their own painting. Please practice the art songs at home and have a wonderful vacation.
  • 4 Day  3’sWe began our week talking about Monet and reading “Katie Meets the Impressionist” by James Mayhew. To wish a classmate goodbye as he moves to Japan, we read many books about Japan. The class created their own cherry blossom tree, we made origami dogs and tried candy sushi with chopsticks. Enjoy the week!
  • 5 Day 4’sWe had an exciting week!! When we arrived Monday, we found that are bean stalks had sprouted & grown a few inches tall! Our class painted in a whole new way by shaking popcorn & paint in a ziplock bag. We used the pink colored popcorn to add cherry blossoms to our Spring bulletin board. We added another page to our “All About Me” books, sharing some of our favorite things. In anticipation for the upcoming holidays, we read stories about Passover & Easter! When we return from vacation, it will be X & Y week.   Have a restful & joyous vacation.
  • Extended Day 4′sThis week’s focus was on the two holidays coming up during our break, Easter and Passover!  After reading “Happy Easter, Mother Duck” by Elizabeth Winthrop we used our fine motor skills to cut out our own Easter chicks!  We used colorful tissue paper and construction paper for the project!  They came out really cute!  “A Picture Book of Passover” by David Adler taught us all about the 10 plagues!  We even used our fine motor and excellent listening skills to create one of the plagues to fill our classroom, FROGS!!  The children loved “Let My Babies Go – A Rugrat Passover Story” by Sarah Willson!  They chose their favorite part to added to our journals!!  To finish off the week we had an egg hunt and tried Matzah! Yummy!! We even had an alumni, Harrison Maute, come in and read us a story! Enjoy your break and see you when we return for letter Y week about the yellow sun and Earth Day!
