UPCOMING EVENTS

  • We will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day on Monday, students are encouraged to wear green!

SCHOOL UPDATES

  • We had a great time at the Moms Night Out – everyone sampled healthy smoothies and quinoa and enjoyed a relaxing yoga class. Thank you to Sandra Telesmanic and Lenora Gim for offering their time and expertise so generously. We look forward to scheduling another mom’s night soon.
  • The interior work at 4 Manhasset Ave has been completed by PAL Environmental Services. On Wednesday, March 12th, 3 officials from the Manorhaven Code Enforcement & Buildings Department were here to inspect the building. Everything is up to code.
  • Next are the repairs on the roofs of #4 Manhasset Ave. (Preschool building) & 21 Yennicock Ave. (Enrichment Building).

CLASS UPDATES

  • 3 Day 3’s – We thank everyone for coming in for the Parent/Teacher Conferences. We began our special” Famous Artist’s Unit”. We introduced the unit by Reading “Art” by Patrick McDonnel. Each child created a piece of art with many different colors of crayons. The first artist we discussed was Leonardo DaVinci. We read “Katie and the Mona Lisa” by James Mayhew. The children drew a portrait of each other with crayons and we played Colors and Shapes Bingo!
  • 4 Day  3’sMarch comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb, we hope!!!  This week we read “In Like a Lion Out Like a Lamb” and made a lion/lamb craft. Mo Williams is the author we have been talking about this week. We read all three “Knuffle Bunny” books, Pigeon books and The Gerald and Piggy series. We finished our Knuffle Bunny craft and talked about St. Patrick’s Day. Please have your child wear green on Monday!!!
  • 5 Day 4’sWe had a busy week filled with our Dr. Seuss corner!!! Including art work, reading books, telling Dr. Seuss stories & most importantly, wearing the Cat in The Hat’s –HAT! We learned that when playing board games you need to wait for your turn, share and how to make a move on the board. We started our senses unit by making a touch chart, smell tests, taste tests, sight & sound tests and lots of exploring making scientific guesses & giggling. We sang shamrock songs and made shamrock shakers. Happy St. Patty’s Day.
  • Extended Day 4′sOur 100th Day celebration was lots of fun! The children loved counting to 10 and doing 100 push ups!! This week we focused on the globe for letter “G”. We discussed volcanoes, mountains, the weather and all four seasons! The projects that followed our lessons included cutting & painting , which the children enjoyed a lot! Their favorite project involved using their imagination and creating two of their own “weather days”. Ask them about their drawing!! Our G turned into a tank filled with “Goldfish” We can’t wait for you all to see. Next week we will be learning about St. Patrick’s Day.
