CLASS UPDATES
- 3 Day 3’s – What a fun-filled week we had. We read “The Gingerbread Man” while each child created a gingerbread boy ornament. The children enjoyed listening to “Mr. Willoughby’s Christmas Tree” while cutting & gluing his or her tree on construction paper. We sang many holiday songs, including Jingle Bells, as we each made our own bell. We have been doing a lot of creative movement with the children. Their favorite Seems to be “Going on a Bear Hunt.” Have a wonderful, snowy weekend!
- 4 Day 3’s – We love our green peppermint playdough! We have been using it all week making Christmas trees, stars, snowmen & even green gingerbread men. By painting plates
green and attaching stickers, we constructed our own Christmas tree. Reviewing our shapes, we made squares, triangles, circles and rectangles, and put them on Christmas trees with decorations of the same shape. Our favorite story this week was “ A Pirate’s Night Before Christmas”. - 5 Day 4’s – Evergreen trees are sprouting up all over our room. We painted with pine needles & then cut out triangles to create a friendship tree. For “I” week we had ice cream with a very special “crumble” on top! We’ve added many details to our gingerbread house. Everyone has sewn & decorated their very own gingerbread person. The children learned their initials & then created their own sparkly initials – lots of fun! Our paper whites are in full bloom. We are learning lots of holiday songs & poems. Thank you all for your generous toy donations & lovely holiday cards! Happy Snow days ahead!
- Extended Day 4′s – This week was a fun “W” week to introduce the winter season! After reading “Frosty the Snowman”, we created our own Frosty’s for our classroom and our journals. We continued with the winter theme and made “bedazzled” snowflakes and mittens. “A Snow Day” was another fun book the children enjoyed, especially when they used
the illustrations in the story to create their own snow day drawing. For our letter “W”, we had fun as we turned the letter into a delicious watermelon! Next week is “C” for
Christmas! Enjoy the weekend and the snow on Saturday!
