CLASS UPDATES
- 3 Day 3’s – We hope everyone had a Happy and Healthy New Year. We are glad to be back enjoying your children! This week we began our “winter unit” by reading “ The Tiny Snowflake”. We created a snowflake by gluing 3 craft sticks together and painting them white. They will be a great addition to our class tree! On Thursday we read “The Missing Mitten Mystery” and drew our own snowman. Ask your children where Annie found her mitten!
- 4 Day 3’s – Snow! Snow! Snow! We have had a blizzard of activity this week learning about snow- from looking at macro photos of real snowflakes, dancing like snowflakes to The Waltz of the Snowflake and ice skating in our classroom using wax paper. We created our own snowflakes using popsicle sticks and painted a snowy scene using the cut end of a straw. Next week Snowmen!!
- 5 Day 4’s –We had lots of conversation & experiments using snow! We have begun our extensive Animal Winter Habitat unit. *Please note- The Habitat show is scheduled for Feb. 14th Notices went home today. More information to follow. We have a new manipulative in our classroom gears, letters & numbers-ask your child to give you more details. Our cooking was very, very sweet! The painting activities reflected the weather, cold white/cool blue! Lots of snowflakes were created. Our large bulletin board is no longer a holiday gingerbread house but now………………….. Take a guess – ask your child! Please help your child with zipping their coats. Letter of the week “L”. P.S. Please remove the bird & squirrel feeders from the backpacks, hang it up & have fun. Take a picture if you can!!!
- Extended Day 4′s – Hope everyone enjoyed the holidays and rung in the New Year with family and friends! We had a great week back introducing bears and the letter “B” We talked about brown bears, black bears and of course polar bears! The children loved learning about hibernation and making fun projects about it. They also enjoyed the story “Goldilocks and the Three Bears” and drawing their favorite part in their journals. Turning the letter B into a butterfly was so much fun along with our pajama day. Thank you for all your cooperation with it. Everyone had a great time making a class nest and hibernating in it! Can’t wait for next week when we talk about winter animals. Enjoy the weekend!!!
