Port Washington parents of 4’s – believe it or not, it’s time to register your child for Kindergarten. (sniff!)
The school district has a staggered schedule of registration dates based on the elementary school for which you are zoned, starting with Salem this week. More information is on the Port Washington Union Free School District website.
The children have had a great start to the school year! We are so excited to welcome both new and returning friends to our nursery programs. In case you didn’t get a chance to take a “First Day of School” photo with your child – it’s not too late! We’ve created a cute printable sign for you to use in your photos.

We are gearing up for a wonderful new school year and are excited to welcome new students and see returning friends!
To start the year off, parents and children are invited to an orientation to meet their teacher, see their classroom and get introduced to their classmates.
There is also a Parent-Only Orientation scheduled for parents of incoming Three & Four year olds. During this meeting, teachers and staff will review school policies, hand out documentation and answer any questions.

Our classes have been enjoying watching the life cycle of a butterfly unfold. After caring for their caterpillars and watching them form chrysalises, this week our friends released their beautiful butterflies and watched them fly away. Maybe we’ll see them fluttering around our garden!

We are so excited for FAMILY FUN DAY on Sunday! All 3 year olds are invited to come from 10-11 AM, and all 4 year olds are invited to come from 11-12.
We have lots of fun activities planned!
Please remember to send in your RSVP so we have an accurate headcount. All children must be accompanied by an adult who is responsible for them.
We had a wonderful Earth Day celebration at Friends Together Nursery! The children made a collaborative art project from recycled materials and planted flowers to beautify our garden.
We were honored that Manorhaven’s Deputy Mayor Lucretia Steele and Village Clerk Leslie Gross were able to join the festivities!
Friends Together will open at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, February 3. Morning classes will be extended until 12:00 Noon.
Due to potentially icy and hazardous road conditions for Tuesday, February 3, 2015, there will be a two-hour delayed opening of Port Washington Schools. In order to allow our students and staff to safely arrive at school, all Friends Together programs will open at 10:30 AM.
Please exercise caution on the roads and stay safe!

Kindergarten Registration will take place at Central Registration at 90 Avenue C, Port Washington. Please call to schedule your appointment between 8:30 – 3:00 pm by calling 516-767-5470. Before your appointment, complete the entire registration packet and bring the forms as well as proper documentation to your scheduled registration meeting. Happy Halloween from Friends Together Nursery! We’re definitely in the spirit over here and the kids have decorated our school with pumpkins, ghosts, spiders, bats and witches.
The Halloween Parade was a hit, and the children’s hard work practicing for their song performances really paid off – they did an amazing job!
